Enjoy a variety of video and music on line

July 18th, 2010 by admin

The internet has brought a lot of entertainment on line for all ages.  Older people who did not have this kind of entertainment in their days are also enjoying what the younger generation enjoys.  About two decades ago it was the VHS and laser disks that was one of the top video and music things available.  You either had to rent or buy them.  With video and music available on line even CDs and DVDs are not that much patronized now.  Youtube is one of the websites where you can enjoy a variety of video and music.  There are also some movie trailers of old just like one of my favourites “Lost Horizon”.  There was a time I forgot my Youtube password and email, I really had trouble logging in.  I am really glad now that browsers can save that information.

When I am in the mood for it, I can take hours on just Youtube alone.  Most of what I search on are my favourites in 1970s and 1980s, music video that is.  It is frustrating when I can’t remember the song title and the artist.  That is often my problem when I like a movie or song, I don’t bother taking note of the titles.  One funny thing is when I want to show something to a friend at Youtube and we’re on a different computer.  It is always a case of ‘I forgot my Youtube account password’.  It really is a downer especially if the topic of our discussion is about a Youtube video.  There are times when the internet or Youtube is slow.  No way to enjoy a video that keeps on pausing to load.  It spoils the fun of watching.

What is the worth of employees to a company?

July 17th, 2010 by admin

Often said no one is indispensable with a company.  For employees, singularly that would be true because it is quite easy to get and train a replacement.  That is the reason why employees organize to create employees union.  The problem with some companies is that they want employees to follow exactly as they dictate.  They don’t want employees to think.  Thinking employees often realize that there are tasks that are not important to their job.  These employees do not want to waste their effort on something that ends up nowhere, even if they are paid to do it.  Most of those unimportant tasks are unjustifiable whims of some managers who want to impress or be recognized by upper management.  But if upper management got there the same way their junior managers are doing now then there’s no point contesting those useless tasks.  I forgot my email and password for xbox live.

An example of a pointless task is for those on the telephone customer service who have to ask callers to do a survey for customer satisfaction.  Based on experience, callers that do the survey is less than 10 percent of the total number of callers.  If you get unsatisfactory result of two percent out of that they tell have a bad customer satisfaction rate. I forgot my xbox live email and password.  Now isn’t that a lot of nonsense?  The 10 percent that did the survey is not even random sampling!  Granted that you had a hundred calls with eight satisfied and two unsatisfied callers the company would consider that as unacceptable! Is that your true worth to the company? There are even companies that warn employees who have a low rate of request for survey on callers.  The labour department should look into this pointless or senseless tasks being asked of employees.

There Is Strength In Numbers Even In Software’s

July 16th, 2010 by admin

Many times when one is tasked to make a big-time project that requires the use of computers, you cannot just limit yourself to one tool.  There is no single software in the world yet, that can do everything.  Software applications achieve a goal by working together. Even in my projects in school, I use a lot of simple and complicated software programs to put up a great show for the class. In one occasion, I needed to use the super simple paintbrush, Microsoft office applications, audio ripper software, media players, photo editing software, video makers and some converters in one sitting.  As it turns out, I did better than my counterparts in school who had complete array of software at their disposal.

There are also times when one simply cannot afford a paid software so he might as well do away with existing applications.  When I had to make a logo and cannot buy a photo editing tool yet, I used paintbrush, Microsoft Word and the built-in viewer of Windows to edit the colours, brightness, and contrast. In a separate incident, I had to utilize my handy video camera and used a Powerpoint sound effect to create a video without a video editing software.  Resourcefulness is the key, especially when you run into problems during the course of your assignment.  One time, I had a problem with making diagrams but Excel Help provided the solution.  On another, I got ideas from the Internet and utilized the tools being offered in that website.  It helped me get a grade of A for that subject.  As one famous individual said, you just need to look at the right places.

Excel Help Tips Part Eight: Average and Alphabetize

July 11th, 2010 by admin

Welcome to another session of our Microsoft Excel Tutorial.  Today we will be covering two simple but very useful topics: alphabetizing and averaging.  Knowing how to do both of these can efficiently speed up your spreadsheet productivity by almost 50%.  Before we begin, always remember everything we discussed can found in Excel’s help section.  All your questions can be answered there. Take the time to read it for reference.

First up, we will answer the question: “how do i alphabetize in excel?”

Enter values or names on the spreadsheet.  If you wrote the values left to right, then select all rows with values.  If you wrote from top to bottom, then select all columns with values.  After doing so, go to the Data drop-down menu and select Sort.  From the Sort window, select whether you want to sort the values in ascending order or descending order.

Now, we move on to the second question: “how do i average in excel?”

Input values on your desired cells.  After all values are in place, select an empty cell and click Insert from the drop-down menu and choose Function.  After choosing Function, you will be given a list of all available functions, choose Average.  The Average window will now open and will prompt you to select cells to be averaged.  You can select the desired cells by highlighting them.  When you are done highlighting, click OK.  After doing this, you can now see the average on the empty cell that you selected.

That is all the time we have today.  We hope you have learned something from this lesson.  Before we all go, do not forget to send us your feedback and suggestions.

Getting a visa for English courses in the United States

July 8th, 2010 by admin

This article talks about how to get a student visa to take English courses in USA. USA is the most popular destination for international students who want to improve their English skills as quickly as possible. English courses are offered in many different cities throughout the country, but the most popular ones are English courses in New York and English courses in Boston.

However, international students should know that just enrolling and getting accepted into an English language school in the United States does not guarantee that you will get a visa to enter the country. And obtaining a visa only allows you to arrive in the USA. A visa does not guarantee that an immigration officer at the border will allow you to enter the country.

If you are applying for a US visa for the first time, you will have schedule an appointment and then go to an American embassy or consulate in your home country. You will need to bring an I-20, a government form sent to you by your English language school that shows you have been accepted into an English course.

In addition to this form, you will also need bank statements to prove that you have enough funds to pay for your living expenses during your English course in USA. Also, be prepared to provide evidence that you will return to your home country after your studies end. Examples of this evidence include titles of properties that you own and a letter from employer stating that you have a job to come back to.

The cost of a US visa application is around $200. You should apply for your US visa as soon as you have been accepted to an English language school in the USA. The processing time can be quite long, as the US government needs time to perform a background investigation. Unfortunately, you cannot receive a visa more 120 days before the start date of your English course. And if you are coming as a student for the first time, you cannot enter the country more than 30 days before classes begin.

Learn the Different Types of Dyslexia

July 7th, 2010 by admin

Several years ago, dyslexia was not yet known by this name. Those were the days when dyslexics are mistaken and referred to as dumb, idiot, and slow learners. But things have really changed so much, good thing that it was for the better. Brought about by many studies and researches, dyslexia has been introduced with a more enlightened description. The positive change did not stop there because at present, progression of research has paved the way for the recognition and more specific description about the various types of dyslexia. Gone is the era when sufferers are referred to be bearing with writing blindness, hearing blindness and other terms that are not easy to recognize by those who are not much knowledgeable about this matter. At present, a more descriptive terminology is used to point out these variations of dyslexia.

• Dyspraxia

If you have heard the condition referred to before as Clumsy Child Syndrome, then after many researches made by psychologists and other medical experts it is now properly termed as dyspraxia. This condition is defined as impairment in the organization of movement caused by incomplete method that the brain processes information, thus resulting to messages not fully transmitted. This results to affecting the capability of the person to plan what to do and how to do things and activities.

• Dyscalculia

Referred to as number dyslexia for easy understanding, this is one of the types of dyslexia that is manifested by difficulty in understanding math concepts including calculation, telling time, and spatial reasoning. In case you find someone having problems with this area, do not immediately jump into the assumption that he is stupid or dumb because he is not. He is actually suffering from a condition that starts from the brain. The person suffering from dyscalculia is not dumb, he simply needs a different and specifically-designed approach to learning and he will be easily grasping the match concept the soonest time possible.

• Dysgraphia

In a way, this type of dyslexia is quite related to dyspraxia because it also concerns motor skills but this time those that are connected with writing legibly and clearly. This may have an impact on the school-related activities of the dyslexic child, which is the reason why many psychologists remind of the need to undergo proper relearning methods as soon as possible.

• Auditory dyslexia

As the name implies, auditory dyslexia is difficulty in translating sounds into words. More often than not, manifestations include difficulty in repeating a sentence or phrase that is read to them as well as difficulty in following comprehensive instructions conveyed verbally.

• Visual dyslexia

This type of dyslexia is marked by difficulty in reading comprehension and even writing. This is because visual dyslexics find it hard to translate information as seen by the eyes resulting to incomplete or jumbled information, which leads to reduced capability in proper reading comprehension.

Ongoing studies and researches in relation to other types of dyslexia would lead to better understanding and recognition of the condition. While the condition cannot be cured, there are many approaches that are designed to make learning and life a lot easier for dyslexia suffering. It is then vital to take dyslexia screening test when suspecting that you or a loved one is showing symptoms of the condition. This is the key to uncovering how you can make your life better and successful – that is if you are diagnosed to be suffering from dyslexia.

Having too many emails can be a problem

July 6th, 2010 by admin

Don’t tell me about it!  I have more than ten (10) email addresses that used to be organized for different purposes.  Some of the purposes I have them for are:  One for family and relatives.  Another is for employment and company use.  The other email addresses for various on line purposes. Issues arise when I register with on line accounts with email address.  For on line business purposes, it is Google email address that I use and it always that I forgot my Google email when logging in.  I hate to admit it but it is frequent that I need to change my email address for on line business for security reasons.  When you do business on line, there are several of them that you want to protect for privacy.  It is inevitable to change your email address on those accounts especially if you start receiving abnormal volumes of spam email.

The only email address that I have not been actively using is the one with MSN or hotmail.  Hotmail was almost the same with Yahoo but it had lesser capabilities and functions then.  Until now, I still don’t attend to my hotmail as frequently with my accounts at Yahoo and Google.  Good thing, the system has memory of my user name and do not have to opt for ‘I forgot my hotmail username‘.  MSN or hotmail is not as user friendly as other email servers.  Until now, I could not find ease of use unlike the convenience I experience with others.  They may have tried to improve their system but it still lacks the ‘swiftness’ of use.  Hotmail has tried its best to equal their competitors but I don’t know why I still have the feeling of insecurity of directing emails sent to me there.
