Physical Therapy Assistant Programs

February 21st, 2010 by admin

Well I am fresh out of high school and wondering what I want to do with my future. What kind of career path would I go down. I heard from my guidance counselor that the physical therapy assistant programs offered by the local community college would be a good choice for me. If I could not be at school all of the time, they also offered classes online for getting my certified degree. I could take the NAPTE test to see if I could do the job.

The  physical therapy aide salary was very good. My counselor told me that the medical field was booming right now and that I would be crazy not to take advantage of it.  She told me that her outlook of my future was promising. I told her to sign me up. I had to go to a freshman orientation class get to know the school and their accreditation system. I walked around and was very excited to start college.I was told that the job also had travel opportunities. I sat and listened to the speeches, of who would be my new teachers, and felt like perhaps my counselor was right that this is the job for me.

I went to my new dorm and met my new roommate, who lucky for me was in the physical therapy assistant programs as well. She told me that her mom was a physical therapist and she absolutely loved it. I told her that I thought that I was going to also. As the months went on and I learned more and more about the field I realized that I was in the right place. It seemed like it would be a challenging job, but one that I would love.

I wanted to take an internship at the local hospital to see what my new job would be like. My first day was challenging, but oh so fun. I liked working with people and knowing that I was helping people. I had a couple of years to go to become a physical therapy aide, but I liked having a job to learn first hand what this job really consisted of. I was getting excellent grades as well. I had eight classes throughout the week and had an A in all of them. I am having a little trouble with the chemistry, but the good thing about this program is that it offers tutors if you should need them. My life is good.
